About Us

Providing timely, in depth and accurate property valuations throughout all regions of Australia.

Property is our passion. Let's see how we can help

Origins

Since 1962 the Hymans family and staff have been serving Australian business, government and financial institutions in assessing the “true value” of their assets. Our services include property, plant & equipment and business valuations for all purposes. These services are provided all over Australia from all capital cities to regional and remote locations.

Hymans Property evolved from Hymans Auctioneers and Valuers as a vibrant, customer-oriented business that employs only the best talent and provides the training, mentoring and hands on experience to ensure that our younger valuers achieve a high level of competency.

We have a collaborative culture that, unlike many valuation firms that seem to be set against the customer and report users, we work with our clients to understand their goals and objectives. Where appropriate, we ‘open book’ our findings so that clients have the opportunity to comment on our reports whilst also sharing our knowledge on risk management and the requirements of the Australian Property Institute to ensure that valuations deliver “true value”.

We have an unblemished record over the past 60 years of service with integrity, an honest approach and a recognition that the assets we value are of great significance in the lives of the people and businesses who engage our services. This drives our culture and the services that we provide.

Our four divisions, property, plant & equipment, business valuations and plant & equipment disposals, work closely together to provide a seamless suite of services to all our clients. Many clients utilise two or more of our professional services on each project.

Mortgage

Hymans’ valuation reports are accepted by a wide range of Australian banks, non-bank lenders and specialised financiers. Additionally, Hymans is one of a select number of companies that undertake valuations for 2nd mortgage. As such, Hymans can support practically every lending requirement.

Disposal

Looking to buy or sell? Let Hymans guide you with a detailed and precise current market valuation report. Hymans also provides disposal valuations to some of Australia’s most successful accounting and insolvency firms.

Insurance

As the preferred valuation firm for many insurance brokers, you can trust Hymans with your next insurance valuation. Make sure you have the right coverage and protection – an accurate insurance valuation assessment of your property will ensure that in the event of a total loss the sum insured is adequate to meet the requirements of current building codes. Also, a valuation can potentially save you money on your insurance premium as insurance underwriters prefer to insure properties that have a formal valuation to base the sum insured on.

Financial Reporting AASB13

The firm of choice for some of Australia’s most prominent corporations, Hymans regularly undertakes Financial Reporting valuations on a wide variety of asset classes Australia-wide, which are fully compliant with International and Australia Accounting Standards.

Litigation & Compulsory Acquisition

The experienced and professional Hymans team provides full valuation and expert witness services to a wide range of clients in litigation matters. Our thorough, compliant, and customisable reports can assist in bringing to resolution any legal dispute.

Since Hymans’ inception our clients have never lost a case where our valuation has been relied upon as the primary source of evidence.

Taxation

Ian Hyman, CEO of Hymans, is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor of 40+ years standing and supports our experienced property advisors and clients in dealing with the often complex tax implications that arise with Capital Gains Tax, Stamp Duty, Income Tax, Self-Managed Superannuation Funds etc. We specialise in retrospective valuations.

Family Law

We have a long proud history of providing expert witness reports to assist families to amicably resolve property disputes. Our team understands the emotional trauma that many people experience during this difficult time. We work collaboratively and empathetically to value all matrimonial assets to assist in the resolution of disputed asset values.

Insolvency and Pre-insolvency

One of the great challenges for small and medium sized businesses is to understand the market value of their assets in determining whether they are trading whilst insolvent or assessing the possibility of restructuring their businesses. Hymans’ valuers receive extensive training to understand the insolvency provisions contained within the Corporations Code and work seamlessly with your advisors to provide independent valuation advice that can be presented to creditors.

Probate

The loss of a family member is an extremely emotional time. Hymans Property can assist with a smooth transition of assets to family and friends.

Tenant Advisory

By nature, the relationship with landlords and tenants is often adversarial. Before signing a new lease have a chat with the Hymans team about ensuring that the lease conditions are fair and equitable to both parties. Rental assessments are not expensive and may save you significant funds over the term of the lease.
